Fitting Roman Blinds.

Fitting your new roman blinds is easy and requires only basic DIY tools.
Your will need:
Screw Driver, Pencil, Tape Rule,Spirit Level, drill.

Step 1. Establish the type of installation required. Are you going to face fix your blinds (fixing go forwards through the brackets and screw into the window frame or a wall.)? or top fix Brackets-Top-And-Face-Fix.JPGyour blinds(screw fix upwards into the plaster work inside your window recess or into the ceiling.)?

Face Fix Inside The Recess.
The brackets supplied with your blind throw the working parts of the blind forwards by 40mm. This is usually enough to clear your window handles, but it is worth checking. If your handles protrude less than 40mm you can face fix. Fix one bracket 40mm in from the left and right hand side of the blind, then evenly space the remaining brackets supplied with your blind between them. When fitting into UPVC frames a 2mm pilot drill should be used then 12mm long number 6 self tapping screws.

Face Fix Outside The Recess.
When ordering your blind you decided the drop, measure up from the point where the bottom of the blind should be (eg just below the sill) to the expected top of the blind (the drop ordered). Mark the top of the blind on the wall. Now measure the width of the blind and mark on the wall 40mm in from each side, use a spirit level to make sure your marks are inline with the center mark. Now place the top of a bracket level with each mark and scribe through elongated fixing hole with a pencil. Drill and plug these holes and fix the brackets in place. Check the brackets are level(they can be adjusted the the elongated holes if required.) then mark through the second fixing hole. Drill and plug. Repeat this for any other brackets evenly spacing them between the the brackets already installed.

Top Fix Inside The Recess.
Measure the depth of your window handles. the fixing brackets supplied with your blind will throw the blind forwards by 40mm, so if your window handles are 50mm deep you will need to fix your brackets 15mm forwards of the window frame(handles 50mm - bracket depth 40mm = 10mm + 5mm for clearance = 15mm) Carefully mark through the top fix holes in your bracket with the bracket 15mm in from the window frame 40mm in from each end of your blind, evenly space any further brackets between them. Drill and plug the holes and fix your brackets in place.

Fixing The Safety "P" Clip.
Your blind has been supplied with a "p" clip which is designed to contain your control chain for child safety reasons. It is essential it is fitted. Screw the "p" clip to the wall below your roman blind mechanism keeping the control chain hanging vertically. Ensure it is installed with as little slack as possible.

Child Safe Chain Breaker.
We have also installed a child safe chain break to your blinds control chain. The device is designed to break if excess weight is added to the chain. It is also design the click back together. When pulling up your blind grip the chain above the breaker to avoid placing to much strain on it.

Child Safe Cord Breaks.
On the rear of your blind we have installed child safe cord breaks. These cord breaks allow the control cords on the rear of the blind to pull through should a child become entangled. If these cords come out you can re thread them by pressing and holding the button on the breakaways and pushing the cord back through.Never remove, tie off or knot below these cord breaks.
